Many tweaks, updates on software and further details about Google’s soon to debut devices were revealed at the much anticipated Google I/O 2022 conference that took place on May 11. Among the software tweaks are the Look and Talk feature for Google Assistant that is now available on the Nest Hub Max.
The look and talk feature for Google Assistant which is available for the Nest Hub Max users bears the internal code name Blue Steel and can be accessed on the Google Home app via a server-side update as it is being rolled out widely now.
The “look and talk” feature works as the name goes, the feature allows the onboard camera to detect the user’s glance and activate the microphone for command without using the usual” Hey Google” keyword. Quite an interesting tweak from the Big G, one would say.
How Nest Hub Max owners can use the Look and Talk feature for Google Assistant
Although the Look and Talk feature for Google Assistant is disabled by default, you can easily enable the feature by navigating to the
Google Home app, moving to the Nest Hub max, and then to the device’s setting. Under the Recognition and sharing, you’ll notice a toggle for the feature under the Face Match menu. Simply tap on it to switch it on.
The Big G gave a few details of how this feature works, one of which is the microphone working within a five-foot range, that is, you have to be within the range of five feet before the microphone turns on. The company also makes use of Face Match as well as voice match to optimize users’ experience.
