The Redmi 9C is Xiaomi’s entry-level device from last year that debuted with a Mediatek processor. It was released in August 2020, running Android 10 on top of MIUI 12, making it eligible for Android 11 and MIUI 12.5. However, both updates aren’t ready to start rolling out yet but to fortify the device, Xiaomi has released the May security patch for Redmi 9C.
The May security patch for Redmi 9C is available for devices in Europe and the ones sold globally. It has a version number – MIUI 12.0.8.0 QCSEUXM – and weighs 229MB for the European variants. The global models are getting a stable MIUI 12.0.8.0 QCSMIXM in a 255MB package. The update is essentially a security patch build and also makes some adjustments on Xiaomi Mi Cloud.
According to the update log,” [System]: Updated Android Security Patch to May 2021. Increased system security. “[Xiaomi Cloud]- New: Location info can be now reported automatically before the device is powered off.” However, it might take some time before you receive the update as it has been tagged Stable Beta builds. The company is taking time to test the build for bugs, and if in the end, there’s no bug, the public rollout will commence.

A new update is now rolling out to global users of the Redmi 9C. It brings the February 2023 security patch to increase system security and stability. The stable MIUI 12.0.23.0 QCRMIXM also fixed bugs and improved performance. You can download here: Recovery.

Xiaomi has started upgrading the Redmi 9C / NFC in Europe to Android 11 with a stable MIUI 12.5 update. It’s a stable release, meaning you can download and install the ROM manually. While handful of phones have got the Android 12-based MIUI 13 update, Redmi 9C is still waiting for its first Android OS upgrade. The device is still on the pre-installed Android Android OS, and it doesn’t seem a new one is coming soon. The European models of the Redmi 9C is picking up a new stable update. Unfortunately, it sans the MIUI 12.5 update and didn’t upgrade the Android OS version.
