Xiaomi has already released Android 12 beta 1 for its flagship phones as some eligible units are still waiting for Android 11. The Redmi Note 9 users have been patiently waiting for this update, which looks to arrive a couple of weeks ago after the Chinese rollout. Of course, the Redmi Note 9 isn’t available in China, but it’s the same device as the Redmi 10X 4G. The latter bagged the Android 11 update a couple of weeks back and is about to receive the stable MIUI 12.5 update. Unfortunately, the Android 11 update for the Redmi Note 9 isn’t ready yet as a May security patch build starts seeding with a stable MIUI 12 update.
The May security patch for Redmi Note 9 is currently available in multiple regions. Unfortunately, it’s only pushed the Android security level to May 2021 to increase system security and stability. As usual, it has fixed some bugs while improving system performance as we continue waiting for Android 11. Meanwhile, the new update is hitting eligible users with a version number – MIUI 12.0.8.0 QJOMIXM – globally. Those in Turkey are also receiving the build, but with a different version number (MIUI 12.0.7.0 QJOTRXM). In Turkey, the changes include, “Location info can be reported automatically before the device is powered off.”
And yes, the European version is available for select users as well as Indonesian models. You can download the recovery ROM via this link and flash. Otherwise, wait for the OTA to come, probably in the next coming days. For the Android 11 update for the Redmi Note 9, there’s currently no ETA. Keep an eye on our tracker for new information.
