Before the suspension of MIUI 12 beta ROM development due to the Dragon Boat Festival, the Redmi Note 8 received its first MIUI 12 beta ROM. Unfortunately, the update was pulled due to some issues relating to random crashes and reboots.
Although the update was called back, we saw some positive changes. It was the first official MIUI 12 ROM for the popular Xiaomi phone and came along with the much anticipated Android 10. And since the company is now rolling out Android 10 to the Redmi 8 series, we expect a stable build to start arriving for the phone in the coming days.
Meanwhile, the China development update for the device has started rolling out again. This time, its a different build from the initial release and has a version number, MIUI 12.20.7.3. Coming along with the update is an update Android security patch, and of course, bug fixes.
The random crash and reboot issue that plagued the first release has been fixed, which is why the ROM is now arriving again. It should hit all the compatible devices in a few hours, but if you’re willing to take the risk, you can manually download from the link below.
As for the Redmi Note 7 Pro, the update is also arriving for compatible devices. Yesterday release didn’t arrive for the device due to issues with battery calibration, but that has been fixed now. You should check the updater app if you haven’t received the update, or you can download it from the link below.
Note: The ROMs are beta builds, and it’s strictly for those that enrolled in the beta testing program. Trying to flash the ROM through an unofficial means might damage your phone or have it stuck on boot loop. We recommend that you wait for the public release, which should start arriving in a few weeks.
