Like Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Xiaomi is working on a feature called CarWith. The function is currently under testing in China and is limited to a handful of Xiaomi phones. It’s expected to enter the stable phase in the coming weeks/ months to provide users with a way to manage their smartphone function from the car’s infotainment system.
Xiaomi is probably about to release its first car, which will run MIUI on the software side. The company during the MIUI 13 release, announced MIUI Next – a way to seamlessly link all Xiaomi ecosystems. Perhaps, that will incorporate Xiaomi cars when released. And with the current development, it seems the company is on the verge of officially announcing its first cars. They’re working on what’s called the CarWith function.
The MIUI CarWith is Xiaomi’s way to connect its smartphone and car. It uses the services of navigation, music, phone, and other applications of the mobile phone on the central control screen of the car. The function won’t be different from Android Auto or Apple CarPlay, but we are yet to know all the functionality. Also, it’s unclear whether the function will work on third-party phones or exclusive to Xiaomi phones.
Nevertheless, the Xiaomi MIUI CarWith function is exclusive to Chinese users. It’s only compatible with Xiaomi 11 and Redmi K40 Pro / Plus ( Xiaomi 11i / Xiaomi 11X / Pro). We expect the function to extend to other Xiaomi phones in the coming days. Also, we would learn if the feature will make it to global users, and we’ll update this space once we get a confirmation.
