The streaming mogul, Netflix is at it again. We will probably get the Netflix ad-supported plan by November, adding to the other interesting tweaks reportedly in the works. This will mean the Netflix ad-supported plan will be coming in before that of Disney Plus scheduled for December 8.
The brand previously scheduled this update to come in 2023 with the gradual rollout starting sometime in late 2022, but that’s not the case anymore. The Netflix ad-supported plan will be coming on November 1 to a vast majority of regions, according to sources.
Variety, the tipster, relayed that the feature will be coming to France, UK, US, Germany and Canada and will possibly spread out gradually. That said, the brand didn’t confirm to Variety the exact date, but just tipped about working on a service like that.
What seems to be the “working on the service” the top-tier streaming brand said is the sorting out of its advertising revenue model. With the Netflix ad-supported plan, it’s planning on getting $10 million from ad partners. Hopefully, all deals will be closed by September 30 and then November 1 will be scheduled for launch. In the case of the ad-supporter tier, the brand has not still hit the nail on the head, but sources propose it to be around $7-$9 per month.
Sources say Disney Plus is set to run its ad support tier at $7.99. While it seems like the brand is losing money, Disney got about an 11 percent increase in subscribers, a significant growth which will pose a healthy competition with Netflix.
Netflix ad-supported plan alongside interesting features, an edge in the competition?
Other than the Netflix ad-supported plan, users are in for an interesting feature from Netflix. Netflix partnered with Sennheiser to convert sounds surrounding a user into a somewhat spatial audio representation that can be used on any headphone or stereo speaker, although it was just for specific shows.
And we are expecting a cloud gaming services, more like a revamped Netflix game section. We don’t know exactly when the software will come to play but we await how the company is going to tackle streaming challenges and take on the competition since they have a reputable history when it comes to streaming.
