Xiaomi developers have been busy these past couple of months with bug fixes. That came about the Enhance Edition of MIUI 12.5, which is currently seeding to eligible devices. However, that hasn’t slowed things down in terms of plans to further improve MIUI. It’s expected that towards the end of the year, the Chinese OEM will announce MIUI 13, and it might introduce new and optimized Automated Tasks.
Apparently, the Automated Tasks function was a feature of MIUI until MIUI 9, when it was allegedly removed. Perhaps, there was an issue that led to the removal, but it has been resurfacing for some time now. According to a report, the function was enabled on a Security App beta update that rolled out a couple of months back, but it has been disabled. However, the latest security app update shows that Xiaomi is working on new and optimized Automated Tasks.
As the name suggests, the feature will allow users to set a task to be executed by the device automatically at the expected time. For example, schedule power on/off — a user sets when the phone goes off and comes back on. With the new Automated tasks Xiaomi is working on, users will do more than just scheduling power on/off.
Going by the screenshot posted on Xiaomiui telegram group, the new and optimized Automated Tasks will include when Airplane mode is turned on. Also, there’ll be an option to adjust notification volume, edit screen brightness, Turn off GPS, Sync, Bluetooth when the battery level reaches 20% or less. Interestingly, users will be able to add, name, and set their preferred tasks.
Meanwhile, the function is still under development. It’s possibly an MIUI 13 feature, and if that’s the case, we hope to see it arrive for closed beta testers. We will keep an eye on the development and will update this space when we get more information.
