Xiaomi has scheduled a launch event on January 26 for the unveiling of the Redmi Note 11 series globally. The Chinese company will also announce the MIUI 13 Android skin globally, and will probably start pushing the build after the event. It’s the Mi 11 series that will receive the update initially before it extends to mid-range phones, including the Redmi Note 9. And ahead of the planned upgrade, a new global Redmi Note 9 update with the January 2022 security patch has been released.
The Redmi Note 9 units are eligible for the MIUI 13 update, but are likely to get Android 12. Although it’s unclear when the device will start pushing the build, we believe the current update is to fortify the device ahead of the planned upgrade. The update is seeding for the global Redmi Note 9 and brings the January 2022 security patch. It has improved performance, increased system security and stability, and addressed bugs. Also, it has fortified the device for future upgrades including the much-anticipated MIUI 13 Android skin.
Meanwhile, the new Global Redmi Note 9 update is seeding with a version number – MIUI 12.5.3.0 RJOMIXM – and weighs in at 543MB. As usual, the rollout is exclusive to Mi Pilots, and the global release depends on the outcome of the preview. Nevertheless, we expect the public to start getting the update in the coming days, but we have added a link below this post if you opt for manual installation.
