During the Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro launch, Google announced some features they promised to bring with a future update. These include Magic Editor and Audio Magic Eraser, and it seems both are now available with the latest Google Photos update.
Pixel phones are known for their software capabilities, and with the use of AI, Google is doing wonders, perhaps why it went full Tensor chip. We already saw what the company did with Magic Eraser, making it possible to remove objects from your pictures. With Magic Editor, you can move and resize objects on your photos and remove noise from your video with Audio Magic Eraser.
The Magic Editor is a Pixel 8 exclusive feature, but we have seen it working on Pixel 6 and Pixel 7. With the function, you can move and resize objects in a photo. Interesting, you can adjust someone’s head position and more. Google is making use of generative Artificial intelligence to achieve this.
Also, you can use the Magic Editor to change image styling, enhance portraits, and change the sky and water. However, you will have to back up your image for it to work since the processing happens on the cloud.
Audio Magic Eraser detects sounds in the background of your videos. These include music, wind, and more, then sort them into separate layers with the ability to adjust their volume. You can then reduce the noise to make your video more appealing.
Unfortunately, these features remain exclusive to the Pixel 8 series. Few people who had it working on their Pixel 7 and Pixel 6 couldn’t use the full function. Perhaps, the Tensor G3 SoC is required, especially for the Audio Magic Eraser.
Another new feature coming with the latest Google Photos update is the Ultra HDR images. Unfortunately, Android 14 and SDR dimming are required to view Ultra HDR images. The feature adjusts the screen brightness according to the content to give you an amazing shot with rich details.
