Xiaomi has started rolling out a new update to the Redmi Note 13 units. It is a global release but limited to a few users. We understand most device users are currently on the January security patch, meaning monthly security patch updates could now be a thing for Xiaomi phones.
Xiaomi has been keeping pace with Samsung and Google when it comes to rolling out the latest security patch. However, the company has a problem with consistency as now all the devices get a new security patch every month, unlike the major smartphone makers. One of the company’s executives said the company will address the issue this year, and that might be happening already.
The latest Redmi Note 13 update brings the February 2025 security patch. We understand most device users are on the January patch, meaning an update was released last month. If that’s the case, we assume Xiaomi phones now receive a new security every month.
Details of the new Redmi Note 13 update

Meanwhile, the new update has a version number OS2.0.8.0. VNGMIXM. It comes in about 1GB package, hinting at new additions and not just a security patch. According to the changelog, there is an “optimization: permissions icons in the status bar flickered.”
As usual, it is a limited rollout, but it won’t be long before it becomes available for everyone. We suggest waiting for the OTA, but you can install the Recovery ROM manually. Use the link below to access it, and do not forget to back up your files before installation.
