Yes, Xiaomi is rolling out a new stable MIUI 11 update to the Redmi Note 8. The update is arriving as an upgrade to the buggy V11.0.11.0 that couldn’t update nor flash the first MIUI 12 ROM that arrived a couple of weeks ago. And for that reason, Xiaomi had to pull the update and even remove the download links from their servers.
However, a new update with a version number, MIUI 12.0.2.0 QCOMIXM, started seeding yesterday, but that has been rolled back now as well. The Chinese OEM is now rolling out a new stable MIUI 11 update instead. Going by the version number, it’s only arriving for those yet to upgrade to MIUI 12, or running the V11.0.11.0.
The update is arriving as MIUI 11.0.12.0 PCOMIXM and weighs in at a massive 2.0GB. That’s the same size as the MIUI 12 update that was rolled out yesterday, and it only brought the November security patch and improved system security. Perhaps, the new stable MIUI 11 update is to overhaul the system, and maybe that will see all the eligible Redmi Note 8 units start receiving the stable MIUI 12, finally.
That looks like it, though. According to a Moderator on the Mi community forum, the new stable MIUI 11 update is a result of the issues that plagued those on V11.0.11.0. Hopefully, after updating to this new build, they’ll finally receive the MIUI 12 update, for those that are yet to. Meanwhile, the current rollout means that Xiaomi has suspended upgrading Redmi Note 8 to MIUI 12. Unfortunately, we don’t know when the rollout is going to commence again, but if you’re yet to receive the update, you can download the recovery ROM here (MIUI 12).
Of course, you should download the update if you’re on V11.0.11.0. It brings the November security patch and would also prepare your device for a seamless transition to MIUI 12, eventually. And to follow up with the development, head over to the source link.
