The Redmi Note 8 remains popular in the Note series lineup even after the release of the Redmi Note 9 and Note 10. It was among the most sold Xiaomi phones of last year, and that’s probably why the company promised to upgrade the device to Android 11. They’ve already released the update in China, and we expect the same for the global users. And going by a recent report, a new stable update for the Redmi Note 8 is live in Europe. Unfortunately, the update sans the much-anticipated Android 11 update.
With the Redmi Note 8 now receiving a stable update without the much anticipated Android 11 means, the build is not ready yet. Perhaps, Xiaomi might be planning to start the rollout with the global models since the new update is yet to go live in that region. And if you’re running the EEA ROM, it’s recommended that you download and install the new stable update for the Redmi Note 8 to fortify the device ahead of the Android 11 and possible MIUI 12.5 upgrade.
The update, as usual, is hitting selected users at random for preview. It’s expected to last for some days, and if successful, the public rollout will start almost immediately. The update will arrive with a version number – MIUI 12.0.4.0 QCOEUXM – and weigh in at 714MB. That’s probably big for a security patch build, but since users are complaining of bugs, the new update should address most of them.
Meanwhile, concerning when the Redmi Note 8 will receive the Android 11 update, there’s currently no ETA. We don’t expect an ETA from Xiaomi, though. However, since some regions are receiving the build, it will arrive in no time. You can stay updated by following our tracker.
