Xiaomi is almost winding off the Android 11 rollout that started about seven months ago, while MIUI 12.5 deployment is only getting on a full swing. The latter is expected to arrive for Redmi 7A, Redmi 8, Redmi 8A, and Redmi 8A Dual. Android 11 is not on the card as these phones already got Android 10, having debuted with Android 9. That is the maximum (single Android OS upgrade) for an entry-level budget phone, but we keep waiting for the MIUI 12.5 update.
And possibly to fortify these phones for future upgrades, Xiaomi is releasing a new update for Redmi 7A, Redmi 8, Redmi 8A, and Redmi 8A Dual. All the devices are receiving this update in India to improve their performance and reduce system lag. It fixes some bugs while bumping the Android security patch level to the latest version to increase system security.
The update is hitting eligible Redmi 7A units with a version number – MIUI 12.0.3.0 QCMINXM – while Redmi 8 is getting a stable MIUI 12.0.3.0 QCNINXM. Redmi 8A gets MIUI 12.0.3.0 QCPINXM, also in India, while Redmi 8A Dual users are receiving a stable MIUI 12.0.4.0 QCQINXM. You can check for the update via the Updater App or use the links below to download the correct ROM for your device.
