Xiaomi is still rolling out Android 14-based HyperOS updates to eligible users. As the update arrives for more people, new issues are reported. The latest problem seems exclusive to those in Japan, which has caused the NFC to stop working.
Near-field communication (NFC) is available on most phones. It allows contactless payments and other things but can stop working sometimes. While there are ways to resolve NFC not working issues, we believe the problem is caused by a recent HyperOS update. Luckily, Xiaomi has acknowledged the bug and will release a new update to fix it soon.
Meanwhile, those reporting the issue are Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G users that installed a recent OS1.0.3.0.UNOJPXM in Japan. So far, we don’t know what’s caused the issue, as the company is still analyzing. We advise leaving out any update with the above build number if you are in Japan.
Xiaomi is still working to resolve the issue facing some UK phone users. Many devices cannot unlock bank apps via fingerprint. Unfortunately, there is no ETA when a fix will arrive, as the company is still analyzing. Nevertheless, we expect a new OTA for those affected in the coming days, and you can check for a new update via the updater app.
