Samsung’s next flagship phone, Galaxy S25 series, is already on the news. The upcoming devices will arrive in January 2025. We understand that’s when the stable One UI 7 update will become available. There’s likely to be a beta preview, but only for a few individuals.
Google made some changes to its Android OS release this year. Instead of releasing the Android 15’s source code to AOSP and stable build simultaneously, they decided to release the latter first. The company will start rolling out the stable update in the coming weeks, and one would expect eligible Samsung phones to follow just after, but that’s not the case.
During the Samsung Developer Conference keynote, the Korean company said it plans to debut Android 15-based One UI 7 with the Galaxy S25 series. Currently, there’s no official date for the release, but we expect a January launch time frame. This is when we will see the One UI 7 stable build, but we will get a beta release before that.
Unfortunately, there’s no time frame when Samsung will launch the beta build, but we know what to expect. The company is working on a big UI refresh and will focus on simple and “emotive” design. We understand it had three core design elements:
- Simple: Aiming for purposeful simplicity across the UI.
- Impactful: Creating a new signature impression for One UI.
- Emotive: Creating UI elements, like a new blur engine, that creates a positive emotional response from users.
Hopefully, we won’t have to wait much longer before Samsung opens the beta program. We are probably in for a massive refresh, perhaps the biggest change the company has made in a while. Fingers are crossed, though, until we see the update on consumers’ devices.
