After cracking down on those using VPN to get a cheaper YouTube Premium, recent reports show that you will pay more to continue using YouTube Premium. It seems the price hike will be limited to some parts of Europe, though global prices have also been increased.
Google is increasing the price of YouTube Premium by up to 50% in some European countries. We have seen many reports on Reddit about a potential price hike for individual and family plans.
Currently, those in Belgium, Italy, the Netherlands, and the Republic of Ireland pay €17.99 monthly for a family plan and €12 for an individual plan. The new price hike will rise to €25.99 and €14, respectively. Interestingly, those who prefer yearly subscriptions will pay €311.88 once the new price takes effect.
Google is also increasing Premium YouTube prices in Switzerland. A family plan is set to move from 23.90 CHF to 33.30 CHF per month. Individual plans increased by 2CHF. In Sweden, you will pay 279 SEK for a Family plan, previously priced at 179 SEK.
Luckily, the new price is not taking effect immediately. Google will allow users till November before they must pay the new prices to continue using YouTube Premium services. Of course, you can opt-out instead of paying the latest price. Perhaps you can move from monthly to yearly plans before November to lock in the current price.
Meanwhile, these prices might be slightly higher for iOS users. Google charges are a bit higher on the App Store because of the fee for those using the storefront billing system.
