Google has been rolling out updates to Android Auto since the release of the Coolwalk redesign. These updates focus on bug fixes, but rather introduce new issues. Perhaps the reason we have seen a bunch of Android Auto updates in the past without any notable additions, but that’s not the case this time. Although Google is not actively rolling out a new Android Auto update, they seem to have enabled matching phone wallpaper with your Car’s display.
We know Google has been working on a slew of new features for Android Auto, including a button to enable the Phone’s wallpaper on the Car’s infotainment system. We expected the feature to arrive with a new Android Auto update in the future, but Google doesn’t see it that way. The company is already rolling out the feature, and it doesn’t seem exclusive to any Android Auto version.
According to reports, the option to “use phone’s wallpaper on Android Auto “ is now available for users. Both stable and beta users are seeing the new addition, with some claiming it has been there since 2018. Well, we only noticed the feature in Android Auto 10.7 when Google supposedly started working on it. As expected, the feature works as described.
When Android Auto is connected, the wallpaper on your device automatically shows up on your Car’s display. However, it is only behind the Android Auto app drawer and does not show up behind the dashboard view or any other place. Interestingly, only static wallpaper works with the latest addition, with live and AI generated wallpaper inompatible. When you have an incompatible wallpaper on your device, Android Auto will show the last compatible one.
How to enable the use phone’s wallpaper on Android Auto
The feature is enabled by default, but you will find the button in Android Auto settings. From there, you can either turn it on or off. If you can see it yet, Google is rolling it out in batches, and it will take time to become available for everyone.
