We have seen some interesting new features released for WhatsApp beta testers in the last couple of days. These new additions are to enhance users’ experience while improving privacy. With the latest WhatsApp stable update, WhatsApp has introduced three new features – pinned messages, check connection health, and view once for voice notes.
Before a new WhatsApp feature makes it to the public, it usually arrives for beta testers for preview. Fortunately, the latest addition has passed that stage and is available for everyone. However, these features are rolling out in batches, and you might not see them even after updating your WhatsApp to the latest version.
According to the official Changelog for WhatsApp 23.25.79 for iOS, the pin messages in group feature is now widely available. With the new addition, users can pin a message in chats or group chats. Interestingly, WhatsApp makes it flexible to control the duration the pinned chat remains at the top of your conversations. You can choose between 24 hours, 7 days, or 30 days, after which it disappears. Though there’s a duration, you can dismiss pinned messages at any time without waiting for the set duration.
Another feature rolling out for WhatsApp users is the ability to send a view once voice notes. It is a privacy feature that will restrict sharing, saving, forwarding, copying, or recording a voice note when view once is selected before sending it. The feature works the same way as “view once” when sending a photo or video.
Also, you can now check connection health while on a video call. To check your network quality, long press your tile to reveal real-time feedback on the quality of your video call connection. So far, it seems only iOS users are getting these features, but we expect Android users to get them in the coming days.
To get these features on your iPhone, you should download the latest WhatsApp update. However, you might not see these changes after updating since it takes time before everyone gets it.
