While Pixel users can’t go month without experiencing issues on their smartphones(sadly), the issue circulating on social media platforms is a bit different. It has been reported that the Pixel 6 and Pixel 7 January security patch hasn’t arrived for users of the T-Mobile network carrier.

Pixel 7 January security patch

Typically, The Pixel 6 and Pixel 7 January security patch and that of the other Pixel devices are released on the first Monday of each month, however, due to the New Year’s Day holiday falling on the first Monday of January, this year’s update was delayed. The security patch is bringing in a couple of bug fixes and stability to the smartphones and the T-Mobile users are missing out on it.

According to a post on the unofficial T-Mobile subreddit, a user claiming to work for T-Mobile stated that the January update was withdrawn by the carrier due to issues. The post, which is no longer available, stated that the update would take several weeks to be released, and could potentially be available by the end of January.

Speaking of even installing the Pixel 6 and Pixel 7 security patch, some users reported that the Bluetooth connectivity was disrupted after the downloading and installation of the update.

Possible fix for the unarrival of the Pixel 6 and Pixel 7 January security patch

While we’re sure that this is a T-Mobile issue, one Reddit user with the username “Jimx2” wrote, “Wow. I can’t believe that worked. I put in one of my international sims and changed it to AT&T Roaming and the update started immediately. Thanks! I guess this further confirms it’s a T-Mobile issue.” This comment confirmed it further and even gave a probable fix.

In other related “problem” news, some users of the Pixel devices mentioned that their devices are stuck in the November security patch. Also, Google Fi, a mobile virtual network operator from T-Mobile, is experiencing the same issues. Well, while we are waiting for the update to arrive on TMobile devices by the end of the month, you can still navigate to Settings > Software Updates from time to time to check if the Pixel 6 and Pixel 7 January security patch is available and then download and install.
