Some members from 9to5google observed that the colors on their Pixel phone screens had moved immediately after applying the update. Apps with a dark theme, in particular, have a deeper, more red-brown tone than they did earlier.
Significantly, we know this isn’t the result of any changes to what’s really on screen, such as a Material You theming update, because third-party applications such as Twitter are also affected. While looking at previously obtained screenshots, the new color is also evident. As a result, the hue shift in Android 13 QPR3 is very definitely due to the calibration of the display panels used in Pixel phones.
The image shared above(via 9to5google)shows a Pixel 7 Pro on the QPR3 Beta next to a Pixel 6, both smartphones set to 100% brightness. The Twitter app is given a deeper, almost purple tint in this case.
Pixel phones have always provided a variety of display color settings, including “Neutral,” “Boosted,” and “Adaptive.” The improvements in Android 13 QPR3 appear to have a significant impact on the Adaptive profile in particular. But, by using the Pixel series’ “Night Light” function, which tries to lessen the intensity of blue light and hence minimize eye strain, the changed colors may be seen in any profile.
The hue shift is most evident when Night Light is turned off. The function normally gradually raises the blue light over a few seconds, however in the QPR3 Beta, a second color shift happens around two seconds after Night Light has transitioned.
