Xiaomi sub-brand, POCO, will be having an event in India on October 16 at noon local time. The event will see the official unveiling of the POCO C3, which the rumor mill claims is a rebadged Redmi 9C. Xiaomi launched the latter in Malaysia a couple of months ago, and it seems, as usual, the company will release the device under a different name in India.
Confirming the speculation is the video posted by the official POCO India on Twitter. The 20-second video shows the triple camera and LED Flash arranged in a square bump. The primary camera is a 13MP module that’s accompanied by a macro and depth sensor.
Looking at the design of the back panel, it’s not off from that of Redmi 9C. The camera arrangement is the same, and if the rumors are true, then the additional two sensors are a 2MP macro shooter and a 2MP depth sensor.
Aside from the camera, the device is said to feature up to 4GB RAM. It will be exclusive on Flipkart and will start at INR 10,990 ($149) for the 4/64GB variant. And if the POCO C3 is truly a rebranded Redmi 9C, below are the possible specifications.
Alleged POCO C3 specifications
First, the device will run MIUI 12 based on Android 10 outside of the box. We won’t be surprised if it comes running Android 11, but that we’ll be asking for too much. The display will measure 6.53-inches diagonally with 720 x 1600p resolution.
Under the hood will be MediaTek Helio G35 Octa-Core SoC with up to 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. The memory can be expanded using a MicroSD card to achieve additional 512GB of memory. However, know that these are all speculations and not from the company. We’d find out the specs and pricing after the October 6 event.
