The POCO M4 Pro debuted as the successor of last year’s POCO M3 Pro. It keeps the series trademark design by incorporating the POCO logo on the camera bump. Also, the POCO yellow color is an option, which is another thing that has been consistent with the series. Again, the device is affordable, and considering the specs it features, it’s possibly the best budget phone in the market.

POCO M4 Pro specs
The POCO M4 Pro is a reworked Redmi Note 11 series phone. However, the design is different, given the huge camera bump with the POCO crest. Everything else seems like the Redmi Note 11 (Chinese version). The front panel has a tinny bezel with a thick chin, while there’s a punch hole for the 16MP camera shooter.
Around the back, you see the camera island that houses the three camera sensors, although it looks like a Quad camera arrangement. While the front panel is designed with a Corning Gorilla Glass 3, plastic is used for the frame and back panel. However, that doesn’t compromise the quality, as the device gives a premium feel with the matte finish. Interestingly, it’s IP53 rated, meaning it will survive splash and dust.
POCO M4 Pro display
The display is a 6.43-inch AMOLED panel with a 90Hz refresh rate, and it is protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass 3. That’s similar to the predecessor, but the M4 Pro supports DCI-P3 and has low latency, meaning you will get decent color representation and fast response to touches. The device has 700 nits of brightness but can reach 1000 nits in bright conditions. Meanwhile, it’s a Full HD+ (1080 X 2400) panel with a 409ppi and 20:9 aspect ratio.
POCO M4 Pro performance
Powering the device is MediaTek Dimensity Helio G96 Octa-Core processor. It’s not much of an upgrade from the Dimensity 700 on the POCO M3 Pro. However, you get more RAM (up to 8GB) with the M4 Pro, and the performance during gaming seems impressive for the price tag. Outside of the box, the device runs Android 11 on top of MIUI 13, sadly. Hopefully, it will receive Android 12 with the stable MIUI 13 update soon.
POCO M4 Pro camera
Of course, the camera can only be decent for a budget phone. However, you’d get more with the primary 64MP, 8MP ultra-wide-angle and 2MP macro sensors. There’s a single 16MP shooter in the front as a selfie camera. The rear camera supports HDR and wide-angle and can shoot 1080p@30fps videos.
POCO M4 Pro battery and security
The POCO M4 Pro has a beefy 5000mAh battery that supports 33W fast charging. That should take approximately one hour to juice up the battery and guarantee 6 hours of gaming time. You’d get more on a decent usage – playing music or standby.
For security, there’s a side-mounted fingerprint built on the power button. It’s decent and unlocks the phone in seconds. You can record up to five fingers. Also, there are other security features built-in to manage your privacy.
POCO M4 Pro price and availability
The POCO M4 Pro price starts at $199 for the base 6/128GB option, while 8/128GB variants are available for $210. There’s a more premium storage option (8/256GB) that starts at around $229. You can check for offers via this link.
