POCO M6 and Redmi 13 were the first budget phones to receive an upgrade to Android 15 with a stable Hyper 2 update. The rollout commenced a few weeks ago, meaning more people are supposed to have received it. Unfortunately, early adopters are reporting battery drain, which might have slowed the release.
Xiaomi started rolling out the Android 15-based HyperOS update to the POCO M6 and Redmi 13 a few ago. Usually, the initial release is for Mi Pilot members to preview the build and see if developers have missed any bug. The idea is to contain any serious issues, and it seems the company did the right thing with the latest update.
Details of the POCO M6 and Redmi 13 battery drain issue
According to the latest HyperOS weekly bug report, global POCOM6 and Redmi 13 users running the latest OS2.0.2.0. VNTMIXM builds are experiencing a bad battery life. Their device battery drains faster than usual, and we understand it started after upgrading to Android 15 with HyperOS 2.
You would expect the company to be working on a fix, but at the moment, they are trying to find out the root cause. While they are at it, we believe the rollout has been suspended. A new build will probably start rolling out soon to fix the issue. Hence, if you have not installed the upgrade yet, we advise you to wait for the next release. We do not know when the company will start rolling the update, but we expect that to happen soon.
