Qualcomm unveiled the high-end Snapdragon chipset, Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus, sometime this year with a lot of interesting features. Well, the brand is bringing in the budget-friendly Snapdragon 4 Gen 1, another 5G capable chipset.
Feature of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 chip
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 chip will be succeeding the Snapdragon 450 Plus from last year. The brand bumps the GPU performance by 10 percent and the CPU performance by 15 percent on the Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 chipset. There were not many details the brand revealed about this chip but here are a few we could obtain from sources.
First up, the chip is built on a 6nm manufacturing process and is equipped with the 64-bit Kryo CPU clocked at 2GHz, with no details on the Adreno GPU. Bearing Vulkan 1.1, OpenCL 2.0 and OpenGL ES 3.2 API support, the Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 also gets 2133MHZ LPDDR4X memory support and UFS 2.2 storage alongside eMMC 5.1.
The chip doesn’t get Qualcomm’s 7th Gen AI engine but courtesy of the Snapdragon X51 5G modem-RF system, this chip has support for 5G. In addition, we get the Qualcomm FastConnect 6200 system, Quick Charge 4+, FHD+ 120 Hz display support, dual frequency GNSS, and Qualcomm Spectra 12-bit Triple ISP among other features on this chip.
Camera? The Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 supports three 13MP cameras, a duo of 25MP and 13MP camera sensors or a single 32MP camera. Thanks to the ISP, you can get 60FPS 1080p Single Video capture, 30FPS 1080p Dual Video capture, 120FPS 720p Slow Motion Video Capture as well as HEIC photo capture.
We don’t know which OEMs are going to be using this chip currently nor do we have information about the chipset’s availability, but as time goes on, all those details will be unveiled.
