The Snapdragon 8 Gen plus 1 was something but the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 seems to be bringing a lot to the table as regards power efficiency. Meanwhile, a tipster has revealed that we might get to see Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 phones sometime soon.
According to Ice Universe, “The latest news I’ve got is that Qualcomm is seriously working on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, it must be a very impressive chip with great power efficiency, and all Android manufacturers are actively Prepare for it, and there is even a possibility of a new phone being launched in November”
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 was reported by sources to be coming on November 14-November 17, that is in the November event. It might just be that Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 phones will come in soon after.
What do we expect from Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 phones
According to reports from Weibo, Digital Chat station to be precise, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is equipped with a Cortex-X3 core, two cortex-A720 cores, two cortex-A710 cores, alongside three Cortex-A510 cores. The results of the initial efficiency tests from notebook-checknet were fairly good, courtesy of the Cortex-X3 core. Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 phones should perform heavy functions without any issue.
The prime Cortex-X3 core will however take a toll on the battery life but it’s no doubt that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 brings some unique abilities at least on paper. Given that Ice Universe revealed that Qualcomm is seriously working on the chipset, that battery toll might just be out of the picture.
Furthermore, the chipset is going to be built on TMSC’S 4nm node process similar to what’s seen on the 8 Gen 1 plus, much is expected from Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 phones. A tweak worth noticing is the fact that Qualcomm decides to cut down the number of efficiency cores in contrast with the four cores seen in most processors.
Meanwhile, speaking of GPU, it’s getting an Adreno 740 GPU which is an upgrade from the Adreno 730. While there aren’t many details of the chipset, we’re sure in for a lot from Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 phones, let’s see how it plays out in the coming months.
