The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 was good, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus was even better, and now Qualcomm is skyrocketing efficiency with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. We’ve had a few rumours as regards the chipset, that is, the CPU cores, enhancements and other features. However, a new leak has surfaced that we might be getting an Ultra version of Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.
Ultra version of Snapdragon 8 Gen 2?
Tips about the ultra version of Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 were shared by Digital Chat station, a popular tipster known for getting us tips on Snapdragon chipsets. The standard Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 we’re familiar with is getting a very strong Cortex X3 core bringing in interesting improvements. Well, the ultra version of Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 might be the same but will be offering higher clock speeds.
For reference, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus prime core offers a 3.19GHz clock speed with the option to bump it up to about 3.4-3.5GHz. The reports from sources say that the ultra version of Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 will be running at higher clock speeds – which means a boost in performance.
Furthermore, other than bumping up the clock speeds, there is going to be a boost in the GPU segment of this chip. Well, the chip will be based on a 4nm process and earlier reports proposed this chip will be powering the iQOO 11 and probably the Xiaomi 13 Pro.
Speaking of bumping up performance, the reports mentioned that the next Mediatek Dimensity chipset we will be seeing has the potential to lessen the inferiority it is faced with when placed beside the Snapdragon series. Well, the ultra version of Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 isn’t a bad idea, and neither is a good chipset from Mediatek. Let’s see how all these will play out as time goes on.
