Google is rolling out a new beta update ahead of the December Quarterly Platform release. The tech company is yet to roll out stable Android 15, though the source code is already in AOSP. Most features coming with stable Android 15 have been revealed, but is the Redesigned Settings app arrive with the update?
Google has redesigned the Settings app with Material You tweaks and grouping of related preferences. The new changes come with the new Android 15 QPR1 beta 2 update. It’s exclusive to beta testers, while the public will get the stable version in December. We will probably see the new design with the December Quarterly Platform release.
Redesigned Settings apps: changes and when it is coming to Android
You will notice the changes once you open the Settings app after installing the Android 15 QPR1 Beta 2 update. The header with your profile picture has been removed, pushing the listing up and making it taller. You can access more options without scrolling, and the search bar is now taller and retains its position at the top.
Of course, it remains docked as you scroll to reveal other options. Each related item is now grouped together and a physical gap between them. However, the new arrangement needs to be used to, but we must say it looks pleasing.
Google now sits at the top of the list, while System and About phones are in the middle. Perhaps the new arrangement is based on what people access more, but it will take time to create a pattern again.
Unfortunately, the redesigned Settings app won’t arrive with the stable Android 15. We will probably see the new changes in December when the first quarterly update drops.
