After Xiaomi released a list of its phones that have received the MIUI 12 update via the official MIUI Twitter handle, Xiaomi Brazil posted a list of phones that are going to start receiving the update soon. On the list are Redmi 7, Redmi 6, and Redmi 6A, but going by the recent development, those three phones, including the Redmi Y3, won’t be receiving the MIUI 12 update.
The report is coming from official Xiaomi via Mi fans Home Telegram channel. According to the report, the devices won’t be receiving the MIUI 12 update due to compatibility and performance issues. These phones were on the original MIUI 12 rollout schedule, but as it stands now, they won’t receive the update, except something changes.
The Redmi 7, in particular, debuted running MIUI 11, although some users had to upgrade from MIUI 10. However, most entry-level Xiaomi phones receive more than two MIUI upgrades, but that’s not feasible for the Redmi 7 now. Also, the Redmi 7A isn’t affected, meaning the device is going to receive the MIUI 12 update, then why can’t the Redmi 7? It’s not looking good at the moment.
This recent development will not go down well with the affected device users, but we hope something changes in the future that’ll allow these phones to receive the update. That said, we’ll follow the situation, hoping that things are going to take a positive turn, and once that happens, we’re going to report back here.
Meanwhile, if your device is not among the four affected devices, you’re still going to receive the MIUI 12 update. You can check the list of next Xiaomi phones to start receiving the MIUI 12 update, and of course, the affected devices are now excluded.
