Xiaomi started the internal testing of MIUI 14 before the official announcement. Those that started the testing have received the update with a new Android OS, while entry-level devices are now testing the build. That is the case with Redmi 9 MIUI 14, but it seems the phone won’t upgrade to Android 13.
Xiaomi has started testing the Redmi 9 MIUI 14 update in China. The build, according to the leaked version (MIUI 14.0.0.1 SJCCNXM), is based on Android 12, meaning the device won’t be getting an upgrade to Android 13. Currently, only developers can access the ROM, although you can take a risk of side-loading the it using the link below.
After the internal testing, the update will start seeding for Mi Pilot before its public release. And given past experiences, it’s likely to take a couple of months before the update is ready to start seeding.
Is Redmi 9 MIUI 14 coming to global variants?
Some devices have received a new iteration of MIUI in China, while the global versions are ignored in the past. But, since the device is receiving MIUI 14 without a new Android OS, we expect the global users to get the update.
