Xiaomi has a reputation for supporting its phones for at least three years. The company is on the verge of pushing the support period to four years, starting with the recently released Xiaomi 11T and 11T Pro. And with more phones been released regularly, it becomes difficult to fairly support all of them. Hence, after some time, older phones are dropped from the development version of internal testing.

development version of internal testing

Meanwhile, the development version of internal testing is exclusive to Chinese users. Only phones running Chinese ROM are allowed to join. This group of testers gets updates weekly, which most times comes with new features and bug fixes. And the Redmi Note 8, Redmi Note 8 Pro, Redmi K20 Pro, Redmi K20 Pro has been around for close to three years have reached their EOL stage.

According to the official report, the device listed above including, the Mi CC9 / Mi 9 Lite, Mi 9, Mi 9 SE, Mi 9 Pro 5G, and Mi CC9 Meitu Edition will stop the development version of internal testing from November 27. It means that the devices from the said date will stop getting weekly development build. However, they’ll continue receiving quarterly security patch updates for the coming weeks and months.

Although the company promise to continue pushing updates to these phones after suspending them from the development version of internal testing, it’s still the end of the road for them. Moving forward, Xiaomi will hardly push updates to these phones, and it would be a better time to upgrade to a new device. There are more affordable phones in the market you can purchase. That’s if you want to continue receiving frequent updates for the coming months/years.
