The Redmi K40, also known as POCO F3 in the global market, has a gaming Edition. It debuted a couple of months ago, running stable Android 11 on top of MIUI 12.5. That makes it eligible for the Android 12 update, which has been on internal testing for weeks now. Due to the release of the Redmi K40 Gaming / POCO F3 GT Android 12 beta, daily and weekly MIUI builds were suspended for the device. And as expected, the device is now releasing the much-anticipated MIUI based Android 12 update.
It’s the Chinese users participating in the close beta tests that are receiving the update. That’s probably the final phase of testing before the build is released to the stable ROM users, but given that lengthy testing, we might see the stable build start seeding early next year. However, if you’re part of the closed beta group, it’s a different situation as you can download the update via the updater app.
The Redmi K40 Gaming / POCO F3 GT Android 12 beta is part of the recently released closed beta MIUI build. It has a version number – MIUI 12.5 V21.11.8. The update is OTA bound, meaning it might take a slight delay before hitting your device. However, you can download the ROM via the link below, but make sure you have an authorized Mi closed beta account. Other than that, you would not be able to install the update.
As for the global ROM users, there’s currently no means to successfully flash the build. That’s because there’s no official TWRP recovery that supports flashing Android 12 builds. We won’t recommend flashing the update as that might brick your device.
