Xiaomi has been working on Android 13-based MIUI 13 beta builds for a handful of its phones ahead of the stable release. The company has just released the first beta MIUI 13 build for the Redmi K40S based on the latest Android OS.
A few days ago, we reported that Xiaomi will release the first Redmi K40S / POCO F4 Android 13-based MIUI 13 beta update. As expected, the company is now rolling out the build to MIUI development version testers. Of course, it’s exclusive to the Chinese version of the device, pending the outcome of the tests.
The update is currently available as MIUI 13.1.22.10.15.DEV and weighs 4.4GB. It’s an open beta build, but can only be installed by open beta testers. It brings a stable MIUI based on Android 13, optimizations, and new features. However, the company provided some heads up below:
“This update is an Android cross-version upgrade. To reduce the upgrade risk, it is recommended to back up personal data in advance. The startup and loading time of this update is relatively long. There may be performance and power consumption problems such as micro-heating and micro-card within a short time after startup. Please wait patiently. Some third-party applications will affect normal use because they have not been adapted to their own versions. Please upgrade with caution.”
With the Chinese release, we expect the Redmi K40S / POCO F4 to be among the few devices that’ll receive stable Android 13 first. We expect Xiaomi to start seeding the update next month, perhaps based on MIUI 14.
