The Redmi Note series is a popular lineup in the company’s stables. Every year, Xiaomi releases a new phone in the series, which is currently at Redmi Note 13. There are plans to announce Redmi Note 14, meaning support for older versions will be dropped. Unfortunately, the Redmi Note 10 is the current device to reach the end of life.
Xiaomi released the Redmi Note 10 in 2021, running Android 11. The device got an upgrade to Android 12 in 2022, which was its last Android OS upgrade. The device has been getting security patch updates but was later moved to quarterly releases.
It wasn’t long till Xiaomi forgot about the device, which happens when you have a load of devices to support. While the device is surprisingly getting a new security patch update, it could only bump the security level to October 2023. Interestingly, it is the last guaranteed update to arrive for the device, as it has been added to the EOL list.
Any Xiaomi phone that makes it to the End of Life list seizes to receive new updates. Meanwhile, there can be cases where an update is released to resolve security vulnerabilities, but we have not seen that happen for Xiaomi phones. We recommend upgrading your device or switching to a custom ROM to continue getting updates.
The latest update rolling out for the Redmi Note 10 has a version number MIUI 14.0.9.0 SKGMIXM. It is exclusive for global users, and we might not see other regions get the update. You can use this link to download the ROM, but it will only take your patch level to October 2023.
Time to move on from Redmi Note 10
Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 has been around for over three years. You should upgrade to a new phone unless you want to switch to a custom ROM to continue getting security patch updates. If you decide to get a new device, consider either the Redmi Note 14 or the Redmi Note 13.
