It took a few months before the Redmi Note 14 series arrived internationally. Although the stable Android 15-based HyperOS 2 was already rolling out, the series debuted with Android 14 on top of HyperOS 1. With the Android 15 update seeding for the handsets, that’s one guaranteed OS upgrade delivered, but how many years will these phones be supported?

With Xiaomi, you are never sure how many years your device will be supported. However, thanks to the new software support page, we can now see how many years of software a particular device will get, but it is still confusing.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 series phones debuted in China late last year and were announced on the global stage a few weeks ago. The vanilla version, Redmi Note 14, is already receiving Android 15 with HyperOS 2, and according to the product software support information page, the device still has six years of support left.
What’s confusing is that the Pro variants – Redmi Note 14 Pro, Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G, and Redmi Note 14 Pro+ 5G are listed with only four years of software support. According to the listing, the trio will get their last guaranteed update in January 2029. Perhaps the Redmi Note 14 listing is an error, as Redmi Note series phones do not get more than four years of security support.
Could it be that Xiaomi is now supporting Redmi Note 14 series for six years?
We don’t think Xiaomi will support the Redmi Note 4 for six years and the Pro versions for four years. It is probably an error when listing the phones, but we will not be surprised if that’s true. We have seen Samsung promise six years of software support for entry-level phones. Xiaomi doing it won’t be out of place, although we have our doubts.
Unfortunately, the listing didn’t say how many OS updates would be delivered during this period, but it’s always two. Hence, the phones will get up to Android 16, which might be released next year. After that, it will be security patch updates until their support period expires.
