The past couple of weeks have seen more Xiaomi phones receive the stable MIUI 12 based Android 11 update. It has also been confirmed that the Redmi Note 8 and Note 8 Pro are going to receive the update after the company initiated an internal beta test. Meanwhile, it seems the company has successfully concluded the test and will now start rolling out the Redmi Note 8 and Note 8 Pro Android 11 update, at least, to open beta testers.
According to the note released alongside the latest MIUl 12 closed beta update, closed beta tests are now suspended for the Redmi Note 8 and Note 8 Pro due to a major Android version upgrade. And since the duo is already running Android 10, there’s no doubt that the Android version being talked about is Android 11. Also, the Redmi K20 Pro, Redmi K30S Ultra, Mi CC9, Mi CC9 Meitu Edition, Mi 9 SE, Mi 9 Pro all received their last build based on Android 10 with MIUI 12.20.12.9 that was rolled out yesterday.
We expect the next closed beta build to arrive with Android 11 for the Redmi Note 8 and Note 8 Pro, as well as all the above-mention devices. However, it’s still unclear when Xiaomi is going to start rolling out the Redmi Note 8 and Note 8 Pro Android 11 update, but we expect that to arrive with the MIUI 12.5, with the development starting next week. And when the update starts rolling out, it’s going to arrive for those users participating in the closed beta testing before the stable ROM users.
That said, we’re going to be on the lookout for more information, and will report here when the update starts arriving. And for Redmi Note 8 users that are still waiting for the MIUI 12 update, which is going to bring the Android 10, the update, according to Xiaomi, is in the beta phase and will soon roll out to more users.
