Xiaomi, in a couple of hours, will unveil the MIUI 12.5, with registration for early access already ongoing in China. About 21 Xiaomi phones running Chinese ROM are eligible to participate in the program. However, some popular phones such as Redmi Note 8 and Note 8 Pro are missing from the list, and the reason is simple and quite understandable. It’s exactly what happened during the MIUI 12 beta registration.
Why Redmi Note 8 and Note 8 Pro are not participating in the MIUI 12.5 beta testing program
Before Xiaomi suspended the development version of MIUI 12, it released a statement saying the Redmi Note 8, Note 8 Pro, and few other phones have received their last development build based on Android 10. The next update that’s going to arrive for the phones will be based on Android 11 for the beta testers. However, the build is currently under testing, and it’s why the Redmi Note 8 and Note 8 Pro are not participating in the MIUI 12.5 beta testing program
The duo, including Mi 9 Pro 5G, Mi CC9 / Mi 9 Lite, Mi CC9 Meitu Edition, Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G/ Mi 10T Lite/ Mi 10i, Redmi Note 9 4G, Redmi 9T, Redmi 9 Power, are going to receive the update much later. Unfortunately, there’s no ETA as to when they will start receiving the update or be allowed to join the beta testing program. However, from our experience, it takes weeks. We promise to be on the lookout for additional information and will update this space once we find one.
