The Redmi Note 8 is the company’s most popular device released in 2019. It was among the best-selling Xiaomi phone for that year and most of 2020, which is probably the reason it received two Android OS upgrades instead of one. However, Xiaomi is yet to deliver the Android 11 update to all regions, with the Indian models now nine months without even a security patch build. Perhaps, the company wants to release the Redmi Note 8 Android 11 update in India with MIUI 12.5 Enhanced Edition, but that’s not the case.
According to a recent report, the Redmi Note 8 Android 11 update in India is ready, and it will probably start seeding in the coming days. Unfortunately, the build will base on MIUI 12, meaning MIUI 12.5 and Enhanced Edition isn’t ready yet, at least for that region. The upcoming update is an Android 11 build with a new security patch level tagged along.
It’s unclear when Xiaomi plans to release this update, but that should happen in the next coming days. The update will arrive as MIUI 12.0.1.0 RCOINXM and probably with the October security patch. Of course, it will bring features of Android 11, but you might not notice them because of MIUI. And hopefully, the Enhanced Edition of MIUI 12.5 will commence immediately after the Android 11 rollout is completed, since the Chinese version has already got the update.
That said, we will keep an eye on the development and update this space once the update goes live. You can also follow our page to know when the update starts seeding. Meanwhile, it might interest you to know that there’s an Android 12 based custom ROM for the Redmi Note 8. Check it out via this link.
