When Xiaomi unveiled the MIUI 12 Android skin a couple of months ago, it started the closed beta testing started immediately. The Redmi Note 8 didn’t make the list of devices to test the ROM because it’s adapting to Android 10 alongside the Mi CC9E. But even after over three months, the device still hasn’t received an official Android 10, however, the wait could be over in two weeks from now.
According to a report by Xiaomi Firmware Updater, Redmi Note 8 stable MIUI 12 ROM is currently being tested in China. The testing is expected to last for two weeks, after which eligible users will start getting the update. As usual, it will first roll out in China before making it to other regions, which has been Xiaomi’s policy for rolling out updates.
Given the time frame for the arrival of the update, it’s likely that we see the official Redmi Note 8 Stable MIUI 12 ROM this time. A couple of days ago, the device received it’s second beta ROM in three months after the initial build was called back due to random crashes and reboot. It’s obvious that a massive improvement has been made as the ROM is now in a stable phase.
From the previous report, the Redmi Note 8 stable MIUI 12 ROM will bring the much anticipated Android 10 OS. The device is the only popular Redmi phone still waiting for a new OS upgrade, having debuted with Android 9 Pie last year. Luckily, it won’t be long again before we see the device started receiving a new OS upgrade.
And should Redmi Note 8 receive Android 10 as part of MIUI 12, then it will be the first Xiaomi phone to do so, at least in China. That’s because some Xiaomi phones that recently got a new OS upgrade are in that country, and the global variants may receive the update as part of MIUI 12.
