Both the Redmi Note 8T and POCO M2 are reworked Redmi phones. The former is basically a regular Redmi Note 8 with NFC, while the latter is Redmi 9 with POCO branding. They are eligible for the Android 11 update, which is now expected to start seeding soon. However, the Redmi Note 8T and POCO M2 Android 11 will arrive with MIUI 12, meaning the wait for MIUI 12.5 continues afterward.
Xiaomi didn’t officially announce they’ll upgrade the Redmi Note 8T to Android 11, but because it’s the same device as the Redmi Note 8, it automatically became eligible. However, there’s no doubt about that now, as a new Android 11-based MIUI 12 update is being tested for the device. According to Xiaomiui, the rollout will start in Europe, and it will arrive with a version number – MIUI 12.0.2.0 RCXEUXM.
Recall that the device received a new update in that region a couple of weeks ago. That was to fortify the device ahead of the coming upgrade. Hence, we recommend that your device is running the latest build for a seamless transition to Android 11. Hopefully, Xiaomi follows that with the MIUI 12.5 rollout, which has been anticipated by the device users for months now.
For the POCO M2 Android 11 update, that’s coming late, especially when you realize that Redmi 9 has bagged both Android 11 and MIUI 12.5. However, it is better late than never, which is the case with the device. The update will start rolling out soon, and it will arrive on eligible units as MIUI 12.0.2.0 RJRINXM. And depending on the time of arrival, we expect the August security patch to come along.
That said, you should keep an eye on our tracker page to know when the Redmi Note 8T and POCO M2 Android 11 update becomes available. We also expect Xiaomi to start rolling out the MIUI 12.5 almost immediately as they look to finalize the deployment.
