Xiaomi had a separate launch for the Chinese Redmi Note 9 series last year. The company released three phones: Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G, Redmi Note 9 5G, and Redmi Note 9 4G, all of which are now available Globally. Redmi 9T is the global version of the latter to the three, and it is currently pushing a new stable update. Unfortunately, it sans the much-anticipated Android 11 and could only bump the Android security patch level. Meanwhile, with the Redmi Note 9 4G Android 11 update now seeding, we won’t wait long before the update arrives for the Redmi 9T.
Initially, we thought the Redmi Note 9 4G Android 11 would arrive alongside MIUI 12.5, but that’s not the case now. The update is seeding with MIUI 12, meaning that the latest iteration of MIUI will arrive in a different build. It’s unclear when that’ll happen, though, but given the speed of the rollout, that should be in the coming weeks. And while we wait, you can check the updater app for the latest MIUI 12.0.3.0 RJQCNXM update.
The update is arriving for Redmi Note 9 4G users in China. It brings a stable MIUI based on Android 11 along with the June 2021 security patch to increase system security. Also, there are adjustments made on the Mi Cloud to report the device location automatically before it is turned off. Of course, features baked inside the current Android OS are part of the package.
However, the Xiaomi Android 11 update has this bug that stops third-party launchers from working after upgrading. Also, notification bubbles turns square, and that can be frustrating. As for the former, you’ll have to revert to system launcher while waiting for a fix to the chat bubbles. And because this is the first Android build, backup your data before upgrading.
