It was only a matter of time before the Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G Android 11 will start rolling out. Earlier, when Xiaomi announced the list of its phones were eligible for the MIUI 12.5 beta updates, it excluded the device. It was due to a major Android 11 upgrade, which is the Android 11. The company has now released the first Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G Android 11 build for those in the MIUI 12.5 closed beta group in China.
The package has a build number, MIUI 12.5 V21.1.8, and the full recovery ROM weighs in at 3.27GB. That’s expected for a major Android version upgrade, which also introduced some other features. You can download the ROM using the link below and flash manually or wait for the OTA. However, it’s unclear when the stable ROM users will start getting the update, but we are now certain a new Android version will come along with the MIUI 12.5 update for the device users.
Meanwhile, the Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G Android 11 build arriving is a piece of good news for the Mi 10T Lite and Mi 10i users. The former is for global users, while the latter is sold in India exclusively. Both phones have the same development as the Note 9 Pro 5G, which means all the three phones could start receiving a new OS upgrade at the same time.
Although there isn’t any ETA as to when the update will start seeding, a good guess should be the end of April or early May. That’s when Xiaomi is expected to begin rolling out the stable version of the update, which will bring Android 11 to some eligible Xiaomi phones.
Nevertheless, those that have TWRP Recovery flashed can side-load the ROM. If you’re one of them, you’ll find the link to the ROM below this post. Note that the build is a “Chinese beta” and won’t be stable enough as a daily driver. It also lacks Google play services, but you can install that manually using this link.
