Xiaomi waited till the end of last year before releasing the Redmi Note 9 series for the Chinese market. The company released three phones: Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G, Redmi Note 9 5G, and Redmi Note 9 4G. They are currently available globally as Mi 10T Lite / Mi 10i, Redmi Note 9T, and Redmi 9T, respectively. All debuted running stable Android 10 on top of MIUI 12, making them eligible for Android 11 and MIUI 12.5. As anticipated, the Redmi Note 9T MIUI 12.5 update has been released, and it brings Android 11 along with it.
There have been many complaints about Xiaomi Android 11 updates, but it seems most of it has been addressed. With MIUI 12.5, Xiaomi has improved the stability of its Android skin. They’ve also optimized it for better performance, having reduced power consumption and background memory usage. And with custom device model adjustments, your Redmi Note 9T becomes faster, smoother, and lighter after upgrading.
And while this optimization has been made to improve performance, some issues are yet to be addressed. Xiaomi hasn’t fixed the compatibility issues with third-party launchers, making it impossible to use after upgrading to Android 11. Hence, you will revert to Xiaomi system launcher after upgrading your Redmi Note 9T to Android 11.
Meanwhile, the Redmi Note 9T MIUI 12.5 update has a version number – MIUI 12.5.2.0 RJEEUXM and comes in about 900MB. It’s currently available for select users that’ll preview it for bugs before public rollout will commence.
