As we anticipate the release of HyperOS 2.0, it is necessary to learn how to report a bug on HyperOS, especially if you plan on participating in the beta program. This information is important even if you do not plan to join the preview phase. Reporting a bug will draw the attention of developers, which will facilitate the resolution of such issues.

Each week, a bug report is released highlighting issues being experienced by Xiaomi phone users, progress made on addressing them, and when a supposed fix build will arrive. These bugs are reported by users, which is how the developers know about them. You can contribute by using the guide in this post to report a bug on your Xiaomi phone.

Prerequisites before you can report a bug on HyperOS

Meanwhile, before reporting a bug, there are certain things you must do as a Xiaomi phone user. This ensures that a third-party app or tool, such as root access and third-party themes, is not what causes the problem.

Root access: Having root access and customization modules installed on your device might constitute the issues you experience.

Third-party theme: Probably depends on the bug you are experiencing. If it has to do with the theme or the font, you just need to switch to the default theme and font.

How do you report a bug on Xiaomi phones?

report a bug on HyperOS
  • Located the Feedback app
    • Launch the Settings App, and scroll down to the bottom, where you will see the “Feedback.”
    • Open the Feedback App and select “Submit Feedback,” you will see a picture like the screenshot below.
  • File in your bug report
    • Here, you need to explain in detail the issue you are experiencing. Help developers understand what is happening so they can swiftly address it.
  • Describe the issue: You are expected to say the app or page you encountered the bug.
    • When did you start experiencing the problem, maybe you performed a certain action, and the developers would like to know.
    • You can provide additional information that would be important to understand the issue.
    • If you have a video or photo of the bug, tap on the + icon to add a short video or a picture.
  • Select an item
    • You will see a list of options when you click on ”select an item.” It helps you to select the category where you are experiencing the bug. Interestingly, there is an option to file a bug report for the third-party app.
    • Next, select a time and input your phone number or email. Developers will use the details to contact you if they need extra information.
    • Before hitting the send button, ensure you select “Add log.” This will add all the required system logs to the report, and ensure developers understand what’s happening.

After sending your report, you might want to follow it up, and fortunately, you can.

  • Launch the Feedback app and click on the three dots at the top right corner.
  • Tap My Feedback, and you will see the Bugs you filed.
  • You can add more details, and sometimes, developers might reply, but not all Feedback gets a reply. However, we advise you to check if there’s any response so you can provide anything that’s asked for.

And that’s how Xiaomi gets all the bugs they publish in their weekly HyperOS bug report. If there’s an issue with your device that’s not getting much attention, you can use the Feedback app to notify developers.
