Samsung is to supply Tesla with Camera: Expectations
Since last year, rumors have been surfacing online that the Korean brand might be the camera supplier to Tesla company, the world’s largest electric vehicle manufacturer. The brand finally put a halt to the rumors, Samsung is to supply Tesla with cameras as they are indeed in talks.
Sources uncovered that Samsung Electromechanics has been in contact with the EV(electric vehicle) maker to be the latter’s camera supplier, although the Korean brand wasn’t available to unveil more information or reveal the size of the contract.
Meanwhile, “Samsung is to supply Tesla with camera” seems to be becoming more true given the fact that the brand developed the first camera sensor for automobiles, ISOCELL Auto 4AC. Still, on last year’s reports, it was said that Samsung has struck a 436 million dollar deal with Tesla to be the camera supplier for the Tesla Cybertruck
As the days go by, it was later discovered this year according to sources that Samsung Electromechanics won the camera contract after beating LG Innotek, although LG confirmed that it didn’t participate in the auction. Well, the brand has confirmed the relationship with Tesla but we don’t have further information about the collaboration or the contract.
Meanwhile, the Tesla boss said we should be expecting the Cybertruck around mid-2023, tallies a bit though, but before then we will know truly whether Samsung is to supply Tesla with camera or not.
