Samsung Pay expanded its capabilities to satisfy more customers worldwide by adding support for C6 bank cards in Brazil. This tweak was considered a major improvement by most tech enthusiasts given the fact that more users could make payments with their bank cards in Brazil. However, while the Samsung Pay was mostly for Galaxy devices with some other Android tapping the software, it has been confirmed that the app will no longer function on non-Samsung Android devices.
The Korean tech giant was fond of making most of its apps exclusive to Galaxy devices but that wasn’t the case for Samsung Pay. Most non-Samsung Android devices could easily make payments using Samsung Pay and even connect the Galaxy Watch 4 with non-Samsung devices but that isn’t the case anymore.
Most users complained that on signing in to Pay(Samsung) using a non-Samsung device, it displays “ID not valid”. Meanwhile, according to reports from Reddit and the Samsung Community Forum(via sources), Samsung Pay will no longer be available for users without a Galaxy smartphone. Be that as it may, people still think the Korean brand should have announced making such a move.
Proposed causes of inability to use Samsung Pay on non-Samsung Android phones
Some users consider the issue as a bug since non-Galaxy Android devices can still log in to their Samsung account using the same ID, although no evidence to prove if it is a bug.
That being said, sources also propose that the dysfunctionality of the app can be a result of the merger between Samsung Wallet and Pay. And since the Samsung Wallet is exclusive to Galaxy smartphones, that might be the reason why non-Samsung Android devices can’t access Pay.
