Samsung mentioned that the Android 14 rollout will be faster compared to the Android 13 and they’re keeping to their words as plans for rollout have begun. For reference, Samsung’s Android 14 is bringing the OneUI 6- the integrated version of Samsung’s Android 14. As usual, Android OEMs release the list of smartphones on their waitlist for new software debuting soon. Samsung has compiled its list as well.
Android 14 OneUI 6 will not be coming to these Galaxy phones
It has been clarified that several Galaxy flagship phones will not receive the Android 14 OneUI 6 update. These include the Galaxy S10 Lite, Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, Galaxy S20 Ultra, and Galaxy S20 FE. Although these phones have reached the end of their OS upgrade program, they will still receive security patches for one year, ensuring continued usage and security until 2024.
For foldable devices, the Galaxy Z Flip and Z Fold 2 will not receive the Android 14 OneUI 6 update either. However, they will receive one year of security updates before reaching the end of their software support lifespan.
The Galaxy Note series is also excluded from the Android 14 update. This includes the Galaxy Note 10 Lite, Galaxy Note 20, and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. These devices will not receive the new software version.
Certain A-series Galaxy smartphones will also not be upgraded to Android 14. While the Galaxy A22, Galaxy A71, and Galaxy A32 will continue to receive security updates until 2024, the Galaxy A51 will receive its last year of security fixes in 2023, indicating the need for an upgrade.
As for Galaxy Tabs, the Galaxy S7+ and S6 Lite released in 2020 will receive four years of security updates, extending their coverage for another year. The A7 Lite and Tab S7 from 2021 will receive updates until 2025, and the recently introduced Galaxy Tab A8 is expected to receive support until 2026. However, it’s important to note that Samsung’s software upgrade policies can vary, so it’s advisable to consider this information with some caution.
The specific rollout period for Android 14 OneUI 6 will be announced in a clearer manner in the future, providing Galaxy users with more details on the features and updates Samsung has in store for the community.
