While we’re in the season of update rollouts, something came from the Korean tech giant that’s quite different this time. Samsung’s July security breach is what’s causing the fuss and it affected some users.
In late July 2022, an unauthorized party acquired information from some of Samsung’s U.S. systems. On or around August 4, we determined through our ongoing investigation that personal information of certain customers was affected.

Samsung’s July security breach?
An email concerning Samsung’s July security breach was sent to most users in the US, and an individual for gsmarena got the email as well. Here’s the content of the email- “In late July 2022, an unauthorized party acquired information from some of Samsung’s US systems. On or around August 4, we determined through our ongoing investigation that the personal information of certain customers was affected”
According to what we can discern from the email, Samsung’s July security breach happened sometime in late July and it seems personal data regarding some users have been tampered with. Well, the reason for the news coming up this late is that the brand had to uncover what data intruded and they did.
“We have taken actions to secure the affected systems, have engaged a leading outside cybersecurity firm and are coordinating with law enforcement. We want to assure our customers that the issue did not impact Social Security numbers or credit and debit card numbers, but in some cases, may have affected information such as name, contact and demographic information, date of birth, and product registration information. The information affected for each relevant customer may vary.”
In addition, the email sent the US users directs them to Samsung’s security response centre landing page. While Samsung’s July security breach doesn’t affect credit or debit card numbers, users in the US should keep an eye out for any unusual activity. Lastly, it is worth noting that this breach doesn’t affect any other regions, just the US.
