Samsung has yet to release the stable One UI 7 update, but it is not surprising they are working on the next version. The next iteration of One UI will be based on the upcoming Android OS, already at Beta 2, and planned platform stability this month.

Perhaps Samsung has planned it this while to stick to a single One UI release, or the One UI 7 delays elicited the change. We do not know that for sure, but we are certain they will not release any One UI 7. x.x this year. While this will allow time to refine each update, it might slow down the release of future updates.
Details of the next version of One UI update
According to ICE Universe, “The next version of One UI 7.0 is One UI 8.0, there is no One UI 7.1 and 7.1.1.” It agrees with early reports that Samsung will jump straight to Android 16 and will not release any points updates this year.
It makes sense since Android 16 is already on Beta 2, and platform stability is expected this month. Meanwhile, eligible Samsung phones will start getting Android 15 next month, and it is not until May before the update gets to most users. Releasing One UI 7.1 or One UI 7.1.1 will delay the release of One UI 8, which is probably why the company has decided to scrap it.
We do not know if that will continue or if the company will revert to releasing One UI x.x.x in the future. They will probably not since Google plans to release new OS updates on time. There will be limited time to rest these updates, and rolling multiple iterations of One UI every year will slow down the process.

It is probably good that the next version of One UI will be the One UI 8. Samsung will probably start testing on time, meaning the rollout will happen early. However, it can delay the rollout if the company thinks they have time since it is now just a single release this year. Whatever the effect will be, we hope to get One UI 8 on time and not wait till May 2026.
