It looks like Xiaomi has started pushing the second MIUI 12 based Android 10 update to more Redmi Note 8 users globally. The first build had a bug that limited the rollout and made it impossible for those on V11.0.11.0 to receive the update. They were also not allowed to flash the recovery ROM via the updater app, which resulted in the quick release of a fixed build. Well, it didn’t fix the bug, and after some time, was pulled. Those on the affected build started receiving a stable MIUI 11 build and has remained there since. However, according to multiple users, a new update is currently arriving for the global Redmi Note 8 users.
The update has a build number, MIUI 12.0.2.0 QCOMIXM, and weighs in at 349MB. As per the changelog, it brings the September security patch and has improved the system security. However, you’d notice it’s the November security patch that came with the update after installation.
As for when the update will arrive on your device, we can’t say for sure, but here’s what we know. Those users, currently receiving the second MIUI 12 based Android 10 update upgraded to MIUI 12 from V11.0.10.0. They were first to receive the MIUI 12 update, which arrived as MIUI 12.0.1.0 QCOMIXM. Therefore, if you upgraded to MIUI 12 just the same way, you should receive the second build very soon.
Meanwhile, it could also mean that those still running MIUI 11 on their Redmi Note 8 might start receiving the MIUI 12 update. It seems the beta preview is over as more users report receiving the update, and hence, we expect the update to arrive for everyone one now.
