The wait for a stable Android 14 update continues as Google releases the September 2023 security patch for Pixel phones. We were expecting the latest Android OS upgrade to arrive with the current security patch, but the latter is now rolling out to hint at the October 4 release date for the former.
The September 2023 security patch update for Pixel phones is two weeks late. We thought the delay was due to the Stable Android 14 update release, as previous reports suggested both will roll out simultaneously. That doesn’t seem to be the case, with the October 4 release date now likely for the new Android OS upgrade.
Meanwhile, the September security patch is now rolling out for all eligible Pixel phones. The update is seeding with version number TQ3A.230901.001 and weighs 12.76MB. From the package size, it is obvious the update didn’t bring any new features. Perhaps, it fortifies the devices for a seamless upgrade to Android 14, which is another reason to install the update.
The update resolved 22 security vulnerabilities in the patch dated 2023-09-01 and 12 for the 2023-09-05 patch. They range from moderate to critical. Google is rolling out the update to everyone, with those on T-Mobile, Verizon, and Japanese carriers also getting the update. You can download the Live Image or OTA from the source link.
